December 7 marked Carson's 2-year birthday. We celebrated last weekend and had the grandparents from each side at our house. We had lunch, opened presents and had coffee, cake and ice cream. Tim's mom, Pat, made his birthday cake and put Elmo on the cake. He immediately recognized Elmo when we showed it to him. Her cakes are so scrumptous, I always tell her that someday she and I will go into a cake-making business. She also made our wedding cake - what talent! My dad brought his delicious wild rice potato soup and I made baked ham sandwiches.

He loved having both sets of grandparents at our house at the same time. I feel so fortunate that he is close to his grandparents and also am thankful for such awesome parents and in-laws.

We took him to his 2-year appointment on Wednesday in the midst of the blizzard. Here is how he measures up:
Weight: 30 pounds, 14 ounces (80th percentile)
Height: 2 feet, 9.5 inches (23rd percentile)
Head circumference: 98th percentile
Funny percentile ratings, but our doctor assured us he is a perfect, healthy boy - and we already knew that!

Other than that, he gets more funny each day. He is getting so big, it's hard to believe he is 2! We took down the baby gate tonight above the steps, another indication he is getting older. It's sweet how we can have conversations with him now. And he responds and comes up with new sayings each day.

This weekend was another weekend at home, which was great. Yesterday I ran in a road race in New Ulm. Tim and Carson came with and it was so great to have them there cheering me on. It was a four-mile race and I wasn't sure how I'd do. I ran CC and track in high school, but haven't really done much running since then. This past August, I started working with a personal trainer, so I have been getting in better shape. I've been running on my own as well, but haven't gone four miles at a time. I'm happy to report I ran the entire way (even up a really large hill) and finished in 39 minutes and 9 seconds. My goal was to finish in under 40 minutes, so I achieved that goal. More importantly, that race marked where I've come since August. I would have never been able to run that race three and a half months ago. All the memories from running in high school came back and I felt absolutely awesome when I was running. I've re-discovered my love for it and am not going to stop now. I was online last night looking for more races. And to see Tim and Carson at the finish line brought me to tears. It was absolutely fantastic!
I can't believe there is only one weekend left before Christmas. Hope everyone has a happy holiday!

Thanksgiving and Batter Up!

Opening early bday gifts from Brent and Mel.

Alright, I swear I'm going to keep up with this blog. I wanted those pictures at the bottom of this post, but I can't figure out how to get them down there! Next time...

We had Brent, Melissa, Madison and Ashton here with us the weekend before Thanksgiving and after. It was great to get to so much time with them. Carson and Madison are so funny. They play nice one minute and then are hitting each other the next. It's definitely interesting having two 2-year-olds in the same house! We found that we couldn't leave them alone for much longer than a couple minutes. Oh well, kids will be kids!

Tim, Carson and I headed to the Daggett side on Thanksgiving day. We had a wonderful meal and Carson had a great time playing with the toys at Grandma and Grandpa Daggetts. They have a Little People town from around 1980 and it's so cool. I wish they still made toys these days like they did back then. On Thursday night, Carson and I headed back to my mom and dad's in BE and Tim came back up to Eagle Lake. The reason, of course, was so that I could hit the Black Friday sales with my mom. I've decided it's become a tradition for us to go shopping. We got up about 4:30 on Friday morning and headed to WalMart in BE. It was crazy busy, but we both got what we were looking for and then some more!

As Carson approaches his two year mark, we have definitely seen some progress in the past couple weeks. He is saying more words and putting more phrases together. The cutest thing he'll sing is "Now I know my E F Gs" It's so stinkin cute. He also enjoys saying "here you go" when he hands us something and "ok" after just about everything anyone says. Our daycare provider even commented today on how much he sings and says OK (which sounds like ooooo key or oh tay).

My mom, Carson and I decorated the tree on Saturday and Carson helped hang ornaments. His ornaments are all on one branch that almost touches the floor now due to the weight of the ornaments. After the past couple weekends, I feel so fortunate that Carson is so close to his grandparents. He screams with delight when we pull into their driveways and loves being with them. This weekend both sets of grandparents are coming to celebrate his birthday. More posts and pictures to come!
We let Carson open his gifts from Brent and Mel and one was a T-ball set. Tim helped him swing the bat (after strict instruction that he hits ONLY balls with the bat), and here is video of him hitting the ball! If I had pressed the record button one second earlier, you would have seen him hit the ball and smack the camera. He totally beamed me! It was so funny. I was impressed with his ability (I might be a little biased). What a little stud!

Finally, a Daggett blog

I created this blog in November and now that it's the end of April, I've decided to start using it! Since we moved from Blue Earth, this is one way to keep family and friends updated. Bear with me while I figure stuff out!
